About this work
After suffering shipwreck, Sebaldus Nothanker washes up on a Dutch beach. He is found by a fisherman, who takes him to the house of a preacher in Alkmaar. During the telling of his life story, Sebaldus gets the impression that this preacher is just as insensitive as all others. He is about to leave the preacher's house, but the fisherman holds him back.
