Bankrupt Couple

Behind the table stands a man who has gone bankrupt ('je cède tout'). His wife demands her dowry ('mes apports'). She does not know that her husband keeps part of his fortune for her under the table ('sage précaution'). On the right, Justice takes some coins from the table for the costs of liquidation ('mes frais'). With another hand, she sends away a veiled widow, two orphan children, and two creditors. On the left, Folly rejoices on a cloud over the situation ('Oh l'honnête homme!!!!').
