About this work
Behind the table stands a man who has gone bankrupt ('je céde tout'). His wife demands her dowry ('mes apports'). She does not know that her husband is keeping part of his fortune for her under the table ('sage précaution'). On the right, Justice takes some coins from the table for the costs of liquidation ('mes fraix'). With another hand, she sends away a veiled widow, two orphans, and two creditors. On the left, Folly rejoices on a cloud over the situation ('Oh l'honnette homme!!!!').
