About this work
Landscape with Father Time, as a naked winged man with scythe and hourglass, and the female personification of Negligence (Negligentia) and Passivity (Socordia) who is lying asleep. Her dress exposes a breast and a leg. Next to her a jug has fallen over so the contents are flowing on the ground. On the other side a fallen loom and spools of yarn. In the background time is wasted on excessive drinking, tric-trac, and fighting. In the margin an eight-line inscription, in two columns, in Latin referring to the vices.
