About this work
The sea nymph Galatea is loved by the youth Acis and by the one-eyed giant Polyphemus. The giant plays a love song on his pan flute for Galatea. Later, he discovers her in the arms of Acis. The couple flees, and the enraged giant throws a rock after them, which kills Acis. In the margin, a four-line inscription in two columns, in Latin.
