About this work
The Hill of Golgotha with Christ on the Cross, beside him the good and the bad thief crucified. Longinus thrusts the lance into Christ's side; Mary Magdalene, kneeling, grasps the cross; behind her the other two Marys and Mary, mother of Christ, with John. Many other figures around the Crucifixion, including fighting soldiers over Christ's mantle and the sponge on a lance.
