On a clearing in a military camp many soldiers are gathered around a large tree to which 21 corpses hang and more executions by hanging will take place. One condemned person is just having the noose tied around him, a few others wait under the tree for their turn. On the right in the foreground a condemned person in conversation with a cleric. Below the image a blank margin. This print is part of a series of 17 (18 including title print) prints with depictions of various kinds of miseries that warfare brings with it.
