About this work

On the left recruits are registered and equipped with weapons. On the right they are paid a sum of money. In the middle and in the background it can be seen how they are trained. On the left in the background the walls of a city. Below the image a six-line French verse. This print is part of a series of 17 (18 including title print) prints with depictions of various kinds of miseries that warfare brings with it.
