Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Pamphilus being beheaded and Saint Porphyrius being burned alive, top right Saint Blandina bound to a pole with a bear (pig?) and a lion beside her, bottom left Saint Erasmus of Formia in the wilderness with two ravens, bottom right Saint Optatus Afer of Mileve as a bishop with a book trampling a number of people. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are always printed on one sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, there are in total 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut in the third state into 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
