Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saints Chrysanthus and Daria who are pelted with stones, top right Saints Crispinus and Crispinianus at work as shoemakers, bottom left Saint Evaristus dressed as pope and holding a palm branch, bottom right Saint Frumentius of Ethiopia with his mitre at his feet. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
