Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saints Maxentius and Leander of Trier who are beaten with sticks and bundles of twigs, top right Saint Sergius Paulus (well equated with Paul of Narbonne) who is baptized by the apostle Paul, bottom left Saints Eustratius and Orestes of Sebaste who are roasted, bottom right Saint Lucy of Syracuse praying while two men address her. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
