About this work

View of the Piazza Santa Croce in Florence, where some pageant wagons and many soldiers on foot and on horseback parade for spectators, who sit on oval-shaped tribunes. This procession took place during the festivities 'Guerra di Bellezza', which Cosimo II de' Medici gave in Florence in 1616 on the occasion of the arrival of Federico della Rovere, the prince of Urbino and the fiancé of his sister Claudia. Below the image two lines of Italian text.
