About this work

Winter landscape with in the foreground a woodcutter with two companions and a dog at a pack mule. In the middle ground to the right four figures, among them a spinning woman, under an awning. Right next to it a man skins a slaughtered pig. In the background a mountainous landscape. At the top of the image the inscription 'HYEMS' ('winter'). Below the image a two-line inscription in Latin. This print is part of a series of four prints with depictions of the seasons.
