About this work
A peasant and a peasant woman, both with a wicker basket on their back, resting by the side of a road. The peasant takes a bottle, the peasant woman takes a bowl. This print is part of a series of 16 prints (15 according to Lieure; 17, or 16 respectively, including the title print) with men and women in various poses. These prints may possibly have been intended as drawing models.
