About this work
The body of Christ is taken down from the cross by John the Evangelist, Joseph of Arimathea, and Nicodemus. Mary Magdalene kneels at the feet of Christ. Mary sits mourning, kneeling beside the cross. On the right, three men are opening the grave for Christ. On the left, a small group of onlookers, possibly the Marys.
