About this work

View of Utrecht with the Dom Tower on the right. The allegorical frame is crowned by the all-seeing eye of God. Top left, on a cloud, sits Justice; on the right sits History with a book and quill. On the right stands the Utrecht city maiden with a spear and a charter bearing the Utrecht seal. Next to her a putto with the coat of arms of the University of Utrecht. On the left sits an allegorical figure with a book on her lap by a burning altar pillar, perhaps Faith or Temperance. Title page for a thesis in law.
