About this work

The Dutch Maiden, standing on the monster of tyranny and with the spear of liberty in her hand, laurels a bust of Crown Prince William II of Orange. Next to the bust sits History, who records the prince's heroic deeds. Fame blows the trumpet, to which a banner hangs with the date of the battle of Quatre-Bras. At the bottom in the margin a four-line verse and the dedication.
