About this work

Illumination of the residence of Mr. Scholten van Aschat in Amsterdam in honor of the accession of William V as stadtholder in 1766. Top right stadtholder William V standing between Religion and Liberty. The Dutch Lion lies on the ground. Bottom right sits the personification of Justice and Truth on the throne under the sun of justice and the all-seeing eye of God. The throne is decorated with the Dutch Lion with the spear of liberty.
