About this work
Illumination of the residence of Mr. Scholten van Aschat in Amsterdam in honor of the inauguration of Willem V as stadtholder in 1766. In the upper right, stadtholder Willem V stands between Religion and Liberty. The Dutch lion lies on the ground. In the lower right, the personification of Justice and Truth sits on a throne under the sun of justice and the all-seeing eye of God. The throne is decorated with the Dutch lion and the spear of liberty.
