About this work
Saturn, his sickle under his feet, sits before a rock, to which chains hang. Next to him stands Jupiter, who points to two putti, who offer Saturn a crown and scepter. Next to Jupiter flies his attribute, the eagle with lightning bolts in its beak. The bee on the scepter refers to the influential Roman family Barbarini and to the papacy of Urban VIII, who came from this family.
