About this work

One of a series of six. The son (Filius Prodigus) is driven away by Poverty (Paupertas), while Superstition (Superstitio) and Heresy (Haeresis) show him the way to the Synagogue of Satan (Synagoga Sathanae). There he kneels before a man on a throne. On the throne stands the word Disease (Morbus), on the pillar Stubbornness (Obstinatio).
