Hercules at the Crossroads

Hercules stands with his club on his shoulder at the fork of the road. He must choose between Truth and the World. Truth stands next to him with a book under her arm and a sun on her breast and points him to the narrow road. The World, with the orb on her head, rests her hand on a globe, while the devil blows in her ear. On the ground around the World lie all kinds of riches. Behind Truth begins the narrow road, where people take up their cross on the way to heaven. Behind the World begins the broad road, which leads to hell. At the bottom in the margin stand two explanatory lines in Dutch.
