About this work

A statue of the god Jupiter, ruler over gods and mortals and supreme god over the twelve Olympians. Here he holds the thunderbolt, a bundle of flames, in his right hand raised. The statue comes from the collection of Vincenzo Giustiniani, whose coat of arms is visible on the pedestal.
