About this work
At the foot of a classical building the shepherds worship the Christ Child, held by Mary sitting on the ground. To the left of the Child, also sitting, Joseph with his staff. In the background a part of a castle on a rock and two men descending a staircase. Below the subject four Latin verses in two columns.
