About this work
A crowd of spectators watches a procession of prisoners accompanied by soldiers and musicians, emerging from under an arch. The onlookers, mostly standing on a higher level (a small hill in the foreground and a statue gallery in the background), mock the prisoners by shouting at them and pulling faces.
