About this work

The Holy Jerome kneeling as a penitent in the desert or wilderness by a tree. He is depicted as a lean old man with a stone in his hand. Next to him lies a lion and on the ground in front of him lie two further attributes, a cardinal's hat and a book. To the left a distant view with a mountain landscape and a church is depicted.
