French noblewoman dressed in the French fashion of ca. 1630

Ihle p. 30, no. 80: Compared with the young noble ladies of Callot (ca. 1625), much has changed in fashion in those few years (this series is from 1629). We are probably dealing with costumes from Paris here that show the latest fashion changes. The frizzy hair with bangs, the low square neckline, which in France preferably remains uncovered, the high waist and the balloon-shaped sleeves all point to the changes that took place in this period.
