About this work

Fashionably dressed family, sitting at a long table, hands folded in prayer before the meal. The father and mother sit in the middle, faces turned towards the viewer, in front of an image of the Tables of the Law on the wall. Some figures seen from the back. To the left a standing child and a standing young man next to a table and basin with wine jugs. The table is covered with a checkered tablecloth, on which several large dishes. Through two openings to the left and right a view of a garden. Below the representation texts in French in which the father addresses his children and wife and the mother urges her children to obedience to the father. In the text of the children unity is urged.
