About this work

Christ falls exhausted to the ground as he is on the way with the cross from Pilate's house to Golgotha. A soldier urges him to get up again. Simon of Cyrene takes hold of the cross. Pilate sits on a horse to the left behind a group of soldiers. In the background to the right Mary is supported.
