About this work

The Pope sits with clergymen, among others a cardinal and a bishop, on a podium. He shows his authority over the Emperor by pronouncing an excommunication. The Emperor stands before the podium and receives bags of money from monks and nuns. Book illustration in rectangular frame with fine ornaments. The print is printed with multiple woodblocks.
