About this work

Allegory on the Peace of Crépy, concluded on 18 September 1544 in Crépy between Francis I of France and Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire. A coat of arms is draped with the Order of the Golden Fleece and is held by a crowned double-headed eagle. In its right claw the eagle holds a rooster that spits out the French lily. Above and below the eagle stand scrolls with Latin text. At the very bottom of the print a representation of a landscape.
