Jupiter, Io and Juno

Jupiter has changed Io, his beloved, into a white cow to hide her from his wife Juno. He sits with a lightning bolt in his arm on a cloud and points to the white cow next to him at Juno, who has come to him with her peacock. Juno asks for the cow as a gift and thus prevents further adultery of her husband. The print is part of a four-part series of prints with scenes from the mythological story of Argus.
