About this work

Queen Dido and Aeneas are surprised by a storm during a hunting party. They take shelter in a cave where they first make love together. Aeneas embraces Dido, on the right two putti light their torches. The print is part of a six-part series of prints with scenes from the mythological story of Dido and Aeneas.
