Winter

The god of the wind, Aeolus, sits on a cloud with a bare branch in his hand and stands as a symbol for Winter. He is surrounded by three personified months. One holds a cornucopia filled with roots, a second carries an olive branch and has already coughed and hidden in his cloak. The head of the third Month is covered with a fur cap. The print is part of a four-part series of prints on the four seasons.
