About this work
Bust of Jan Six in an oval, held by Minerva. To the right a putto stroking the heads of the two dogs. In the background a curtain and the crowned city arms of Amsterdam with fasces. On the pedestal on which Minerva is seated the family coat of arms of the sitter and a cartouche with an eight-line verse in Latin.
