About this work
St. Anthony sits kneeling before an altar stone on which a crucifix, an hourglass, a skull and a stack of books. Devil and monster-like creatures pull at his garment and besiege him in all kinds of ways. In front of him the pig. Behind him a finely dressed lady who offers him a glass of wine. An old woman with devil wings tries to tempt him to look at her. Above in the cave a flying little devil that plays a jawbone.
