About this work

Emperor Rudolf II sits in armor on a rearing horse. He also wears a laurel wreath and holds a spear. In the upper right, an eagle flies with an arrow and a scroll in its claws. In the background, cavalrymen storm a fortress. In the lower right, a Latin motto stating that there are no impassable paths for virtue. Below the scene, an eight-line Latin text about the emperor and an inscription.
