Hermaphroditus sitting by the edge of the lake where Salmacis, one of Diana's nymphs, dwells; she spies on him from behind a tree and falls in love with him; Cupid accompanies her; in the margin a three-line inscription in French and a reference to Book 6 of Ovid's Metamorphoses.
