About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, carrying a spear (lance) above his right shoulder, the point angled towards the ground. His hands close together on the spear. This is the first movement for raising the spear to the shoulder and carrying it horizontally. This print is part of the series of 32 numbered prints of spear-bearers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
