About this work
Various mythological figures; at the top, the falling Icarus, on the left Atlas with the celestial vault on his shoulders and the one-eyed Polyphemus, and in the background Dido on the pyre. All depicted to represent different characteristics of love. On the right, on a cloud, the personification of Love holding two burning hearts in her hands, and before her Cupid with arrow and bow. Also on the right, the personification of Envy: a woman with snakes, chewing on a heart. Below the scene, a four-line text in French.
