About this work
Sixteenth part (central map, upper left section) of a print of the siege of the citadel Saint Martin on Île de Ré in 1627, executed by English troops under the command of the Duke of Buckingham and concluded by French troops under the command of Cardinal Richelieu. On this sheet the eastern point of the island, on which many English ships are approaching. French troops hasten to the beach to withstand the attack.
