Large print of the siege of the citadel Saint Martin on the Île de Ré in 1627, executed by English troops under the command of the Duke of Buckingham in support of the rebellious Huguenots and concluded by French troops under the command of Cardinal Richelieu. Central map, upper left part. This sheet shows the eastern tip of the island, upon which many English ships are approaching. French troops hurry to the beach to resist the attack.
