About this work
Mary with Child and St. Anne, seated on a throne with a canopy. The Child sits on Mary's lap, who holds a bunch of grapes in her right hand. On the lap of St. Anne, a Bible, open at the text of Isaiah 9:6, announcing the birth of Christ. Above the throne in a cloud, five little angels holding an open music book containing musical notation of the four-part motet 'Ave gratia plena' by Cornelis Verdonck. Two little angels playing the cornett and the viola da braccio. On the edge of the throne, a quote from Luke 1: MATER MEA ET FRATRES MEI HI SUNT, QUI VERBUM DEI AUDIUNT ET FACIUNT.
