About this work
During the colloquy in Marburg, between October 1-4, 1529, the reformers Luther and Zwingli discuss the true meaning of the sacrament. At the table are also Melanchthon, and on the right, Philip, Landgrave of Hesse, on a sort of throne. Surrounding this scene are six portraits of the reformers: Calvin, Merula, Gustavus Adolphus, Menno Simons, Jan Laski, and Erasmus.
