About this work
A man with a jester's cap on his head stands in a coastal landscape and points with one hand into the distance and with the other hand at the viewer. At the bottom in the margin an explanatory text in Latin and Dutch: If the viewer likes to see foolery, he need not look far. He is encouraged to take a good look at himself.
