About this work

The personification of history, seated on the floor, writes together with the personification of Inspiration the history of Great Britain. Right by a pillar the personification of Great Britain, sitting on a lion. In her hands the coat of arms of Great Britain. In the foreground three putti try to hold back the winged Time, which tears and eats books. Above the personification of Fame, blowing on a portrait. She carries the portrait in oval frame of the French historian Isaac de Larrey. In the background the city of London. The print has a French inscription.
