About this work
The personification of Navigation reveals the continent America on a globe. To the left thereof the personification of America, a man with a feathered headdress and ear-rings, holding a cornucopia. In the foreground a putto in the guise of Mercury, with in the hand a portrait of Columbus, and a putto with a Spanish flag. In the margin a five-line inscription in Dutch.
