About this work
The Holy Family on their journey to Egypt. Joseph on foot and Mary with the Christ child in her arms on a donkey. In the upper right, in a chapel by a tree, an idol breaks in two. In the upper left, a group of angels in heaven. In the background, a cornfield with reapers and the army of Herod searching for the Christ child. The print has a Latin Bible quotation as an inscription and is the eighth print of a twelve-part series on the birth and early years of Christ.
