About this work

Telemachus looks longingly up at a winged figure, whom an old man points out to him. He is held back by a woman, with a censer in her hands. In the background by a monument a lion with bundled arrows, Poetry and a female figure pointing to a book. In the upper left Fame blows on the trumpet, in her hands an eternity symbol. On the right a putto stabs himself in the heart with a dagger. In the foreground putti blowing bubbles next to a goat.
