About this work

The coats of arms of Stephanus Laurentius Neale, coffee planter in Suriname, flanked by Minerva, as goddess of the arts, and Commerce, who holds the mirror of prudence and a bag of money in her hands. To the right, a ship. Neale introduced the coffee bean to Suriname and became wealthy trading coffee.
